  1. Noninterlaced and Interlaced? A and B field? What's is the difference?
And Which one should I use to convert from .d2v to .mpeg1 VCD format

  2. d2v can be all of the above.

So you need to tell us what the real video source is.

On the other hand, standard VCD does not support interlaced
    so fieldorder is un-important.

  3. When you are asking for real video source, what are you talking about?

It's coming from a DVD source.
Im trying to make a NTSC mpeg1 file format that would fit 2 cds with high quality.

I'm thinking about doing it at 128 bitrate for audio and 1297 bitrate for video. it's a 2 hr 18 min movie.

I'm using smart ripper, Dvd2Avi (forced film enabled), Tmpgenc Plus

  4. Now we know, source= NTSC DVD

So most likely it is a Progressive 23.976 frame/sec source.

You have forcefilm on in dvd2avi to keep it the same when frameserving.

So you do NOT have a interlaced source
and are NOT doing a interlaced VCD
(vcd have to few lines to have interlace anyway)

That tmpgenc still let you change field order is kind of a bug.
It does not matter what the settings are.

Are you keeping the framerate at 23.976 or converting it to 29.97 ??
I'm not sure what the best result would be.

Mpeg1 does not support 3:2 pulldown flag to have soft telecine.

  5. 23.xx or 29.xx I don't know. I set it by default and I do use Force Film.

BY the way, thanks for all the reply TonyP. You have been real helpful.
