I have successfully burned a vcd and svcd and they both seem to work on my computer. The only thing is that they won't play in any dvd that I try them in. What am I doing wrong? I used the latest version of Nero to make them. Does PAL or NTSC play any significance when encoding the file? Also, does the type of cd-rw used make the difference, if so, which are recommended.

Its all dependant upon your standalone dvd player.
check the compatability section for your player.
some only support "pressed vcd's" (hollywood made) some players dont support cd-r discs . -
NTSC vs Pal is the first thing you should look at.
What is the TV standard in your country. There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway.
