Hey...not everyone on this forum has done this...those that have must not have seen this question...I know I didn't....have patience..after all we are only human....well most of us.

Check my details...your comp is slightly faster but I have more hard drive space...but yours is more than enough for what you want.

You need a way to get video onto the Computer...SO get a caputure or Tv card..Cards run from $50.00 to Several thousand..Most capture cards have rca video in or svideo in and can not tune...by that I mean most TV cards have a coax or antena in and can actually tune in stations. Most cards use your existing sound card for the audio portion.

I have a Pinnacle DC10+ card (about $90 with Studio7), which has no tuner but has rca and svideo in and out. If I want to capture from cable I just use a VCR and tune with it. I use that and Studio7 to capture from my Hi8 to avi at a higher resolution and bitrate than VCD supports (read lots of empty hard drive space needed) SVCD would be higher...but you only get 40-45 minutes per SVCD and you can fit about 70-80 minutes of video on a standard 700mb VCD. I edit with Studio7 also (though its a crash fest) Think they have new version Studio8 out now...Hope its better. Then I use TMPG to convert (or encode) to VCD compatable mpg1 (SVCD is mpg2). Then I use Nero to burn using its VCD(or SVCD) option. Looks just like my Hi8 but easy to watch and

This may have been more basic than what you wanted...but I have e-mail if you want further disscussion....or post here...thats what this forums all about...Later
