After encoding, I am trying to cut the final MPG file into 2 files for imaging and burning. I have tried both Tempgen and BBmpg with the same results. I set the cut time at half the total time.

Result? The second file is always much larger than the first. Thus, the first file will successfully burn to a CD--the 2nd file will not (too large). I have played around with the cut times so that the first half file size is even larger than the second half, but still the same result.

I am using VCD Easy to image and Nero to burn.

    Suggestions?? Thanks in advance.

Are you using the Source Frame function in TMPGEnc? If not, try it, and if cutting by time does not work, try cutting by frames.
    Hello.

Yes, used the source frame function. Same result. Specifically, here's what happens. After encoding, total size is 1608MB for 1 hr 58 min. Then I split into two parts:

Part 1. 808 MB (using Windows Explorer), time 61:22 sec. Resulting image size in Nero roughly 680 MB. Burns OK.

Part 2. 789 MB, time 54:08. Resulting image size in Nero 760 MB. Too large!

One other issue. Using Tempgen (ver 2.53) , roughly the last 30 sec of audio are missing. Does not happen using BBmpeg.

    Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

  4. That's why using BBMPeg is the best way to cut - it takes a bit of trial and error to find the right split point, but the results are superior.

You're doing something wrong with your second Part 2 burn - There's no way an 808 MB video will burn, but a 789 MB video won't burn - you must be doing something moderately wierd.

Try just dragging the videos to Nero without using VCD Easy and see if the size is OK. I know that's not much help, but without watching what you're doing, there's no good way to say what you're doing wrong, but basically up to about 815 MB in explorer will burn on an 80 min CD every time....

I agree. Something is really weird. It seems impossible that the smaller file will not burn. I have by-passed VCD easy and dragged directly into Nero. Same result. I suspect I should start from scratch and re-encode.

Another issue--regarding BBmpeg, it runs fine under Win98SE, but crashes when I use XP Pro. I have used the recommended XP dll, but still the same.
