  1. I bought this player because of the great reviews on this site and it worked great, but now it will only play DVDs and not VCDs, CDs, or SVCDs Can anyone enlighten me to this problem. I've tried many different brands of disks with no luck and the kicker is the disks it used to play don't work anymore. I took the unit apart to see if the lens was dirty but it looked fine (i did rub it off just in case though). Please help...

    Thanks

Your post sounded like it used to play all those formats fine then VCD's stopped working. The same thing happened to my DV-333. Took it to the repair shop to replace the 2nd laser. Worked great after that. Luckily for me it had 2 weeks left in the warranty; otherwise it's probably a $50-$70 repair.

  5. I know this is an old post, but can someone recommend a solution for the DV-333 player not playing commercial DVDs?

Do you think the laser problem that caused it to stop playing VCDs could be similar to the reverse condition? If the two lasers are each dedicated to one format?

I love this player, and it plays VCDs/SVCDs/music just fine, but it has the hanging issue on all commercial DVDs that so many people have reported. It's way out of warranty now, so I don't know if it's worth trying to repair or not.

I'd be willing to replace it, except that I know it plays all of the VCDs/SVCDs I have, and I know so many (including some of the Apex models) that won't play one or another of them for some reason.

Any suggestions about repair and/or replacements are sincerely appreciated.
