  1. This morning when i was burning a disc CloneCD crashed when it was at 5%. The computer would not shut it down and the whole computer was crashed and I had to do a reset to clear the computer. Since then I cannot burn in any program - Nero, Clone CD or Easy Copy. i seem to remember reading something somewhere about it causing a problem with the CD-RW drive if the computer crashes whilst burning but I cant remember what the solution was

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I have uninstalled and reinstalled all the burning programs but no success

  2. What OS are u using ?

Sounds like you are going to need to delete your cdrw drive
under device manager and reboot. Then install an aspi layer.
Can't say more without additional info.

  3. The Operating System is Xp

I have just uninstalled the drive in device manager and rebooted and reinstalled the XP aspi layers and still the same problem.

It has not problem reading the file but when it gets to the burning it stays on zero percent and does nothing. The only way to quit the program is to reset.

What other information do you need to know?

  4. bossdodgers, I'm certainly no expert, and hopefully someone more knowledgable can help you out, but I recently had almost the exact same experience you describe, only while burning with Nero in XP. Nero would get to 5%(or so it said, since the red light never lit on the burner) and after several minutes of nothingness, I'd get an error message and a totally blank cdr. If I tried to cancel the non-functioning burn process at any point, the computer would totally freeze and I'd need to press the reset button. I had used these same cdrs many times before, so I couldn't figure out what the problem was. I then tried a few different brands on a whim, but still no luck, so I was affraid my burner had died.

In one of my final attempts with yet another brand cdr, I got the same error in Nero, but when I pulled the disc out, there was a single strand of hair stuck to it. I thought, gee maybe that was the problem, because I don't think it was on that last disc when I put it in there. That got me to thinking a bit more about the last time I actually had successfully used the burner. I remembered I had been wearing some slippers and got a small shock when I touched the computer case while removing a disc, but I didn't think much of it at the time because everything seemed normal. I wondered if this could have caused the problem.

So I shutdown the computer, unplugged it from the wall socket for a few minutes, plugged it back in, and voila! Now I can burn again. I don't know if it was the phantom-hair, or the unplugging, or if I just got lucky and my burner or Nero is just "living on borrowed time" or what. Regardless, I've burned several discs successfully since then with no problems, including the ones that were previously spit out after several minutes.

I know it probably sounds dumb (hey, it does to me too), but maybe try unplugging your computer from the outlet for awhile if you haven't already. At the very least, it can't hurt anything. Good luck.

  5. Problem solved

Turned out it was a missing filter driver and now it is installed all programs are back to normal. it must have somehow become corrupt or lost during the crash.

Thanks for your suggestions and I didnt even have to shave my head or dump my favourite slippers lol
