    Can somebody inform me if there is a way to use my DVD writer (A04) as an external drive? Currently I have it as slave in my secondary controller of my motherboard.

    look at www.pricewatch.com for an external USB2 enclosure. Should be about $50. Then get a PCI USB2 controller, about $25. Works great for my DVDR, CDRW and external 100 GB IDE HDD.
