  2. Maybe your BIOS has a limit. I have a machine that its BIOS has a limit of 40Gigs. Maybe yours has one to? If it does, you may need to upgrade your firmware. Maybe someone else will have another possible reason though.

  6. Go into you BIOS and try to make it recognize the drive to its full capacity. If that doesnt work, contact the maker of your machine and ask them what their ideas are, they could give you the model of BIOS you MAY have to upgrade to to make it see the full disk.

Thats the main problem with drives growing so quickly. The MOBO makers havent really caught up yet on all but the newest machines.

  8. xp has a huge terabyte (way bigger than your 120giger) limit..

to enter your bios, when you computer first comes on it should say something like "press f2 to enter setup" it could be DEL, F1.. if it comes up with a splash screen, try pressing escape..

as deviemi83 said, it may be a limitation of your bios that is not showing the full capacity of the drive, but its not windows xp..

you might want to try download some of the utitilities maxtor has to offer..

if none of that works, you can always go and buy a pci controller card.. i've got one, it works great and its faster than having my harddrives hooked up than straight on to the mobo.. but you've gotta have the primary master on the mobo..

  9. so press esx. at the little settup menu that apperes after hitting F12 and it will bring me to the bios configuration thing?
