My Samsung DVD ROM drive has recently developed a problem reading both CDs and DVDs.
When I put a disc in the drive light comes on and the drive icon changes to reflect the contents of the disc as per usual but when I try to access the files my system locks or I get a blue screen of death message (exeption error in blah blah .vxd, etc).
The only changes I have made to my system recently are that I have been experimenting with packet writing software namely Incd and Direct CD (not installed at the same time) but have since uninstalled both.
Could this be the cause and if so does anyone know a fix or do I have a dead DVD ROM drive ?

Moviegeek, thanks for the reply but it appears to be Direct CD causing the problem after all.
I re-installed it and the DVD drive is now functioning normally again.
My question is now, how do I get rid of Direct CD without this happening again ?
