    You mean by selecting Capture-->Preferences-->Save current settings as default?

    I have a similar problem when I capture files using VDub.

    In "Capture" mode:
    I goto Video, select a codec, and set accordingly.
    I goto Audio, select a codec, and set accordingly as well.

    I may also (depending on the file) utilize one or several filters that are
    found under "Video --> Filters".

    Also, if I choose to crop the intended capture 'on the fly' I must enable cropping (under the Video? menu).

    Now, I can go and select the Cap -->Pref-->Save current and all appears to be well.

    Unfortunately, none of these settings is saved when the program exits.

    The only thing that I have found that will actually save under Vdub (1.4.10) are the "Load Processing Settings" under the file menu while in Edit mode. This will allow you to reload previously defined sets of filters, and possibly custom a/v codecs.

    I use Win2k, and have no other errors when I use VDub. Just that these settings are all "forgotten" each time VDub is closed. Closed here means the program as a whole, not exiting out "closing" out of Capture mode.

    Oddly enough, some settings remain after exiting from Capture mode to Edit mode (cropping for instance), but a/v codecs will not.

    If there is some bonehead thing that I have done (or haven't done) to fix this plz let me know.

    is there no other program to capture directly to DVIX but that is more 'user friendly' ? ( like a standard video recorder )
