  2. How much are these services charging for
shipping an d"handling" the DVD ?

Does it cost less if you want to receive three at a time?

Do you have a link so we can check it out?

  4. Link

Shipping and handling is included in the price, but tax isn't. You can have 3 movies out at the same time for that same price.

  5. Shipping is included both ways.

The reason you can NOT see a 100+ movies in a month
is that it take 2-3days before you get the DVD

and 2-3days before walmart get them back when
    using the postal system.

You can only have 3 DVD's outstanding at a time.

Can you pick them up at a local walmart????

  6. Nope, you cannot pickup or dropoff at local stores unfortunately If it is anything like Netflix, I find that it takes about a week to cycle the 3 rentals. That gives you about 12 movies/month for $19. Not too shabby, but still not as good as Blockbusters deal ($25/month for unlimited rentals). I rented 48 movies last month from Blockbuster for that $25.

  7. I signed up for the free trail and have added 8 movies to my queue so far: 3 have a "very long wait", 4 have a "short wait", and 1 is "available now". Only 3 of the 8 are brand new releases (within the last month). I guess Netflix has better inventory, cause I don't remember having long waiting periods for anything but the latest movies.

If you live close to a Netflix distribution center, your rental receive/return days are shaved by DAYS. I live in Silver Spring, MD, and Netflix has a return/ship location in Gaithersburg, MD. I receive rentals from my queue in 1 day, and they are received back at Netflix the day after I mail them. It's pretty sweet. I imagine this same 1-day service is available from Philadelphia south to Richmond.

wonder if netflix actually does this for them...partners...walmart gets 2 or 3 dollars am month as sales commission?

Maybe they made deal with netflix $ 15.00 per month for your customers, upcharge the premium that you want.

    Site looks similar. ????

  10. Yes, the site looks very similar and I was thinking the same thing, but the availability of the movies didn't seem as good as Netflix. Maybe WalMart is responsible for providing their own supply of DVD's?

  11. hey enemyWithin, i think my wife is gonna be pretty mad at u, why, because with netflix dvds already comming to my place and now walmarts dvd's she gonna be pretty upset at all the time i spend copying all these monstrous dvd-9's...OH WELL..SHE"ll GET OVER IT........I HOPE..lol
actually i'll probably be the one losing trying to juggle my time between work/dvd copying/ and the mandatory "wife time"

  12. sammiches,

Since you subscribe to both Netflix and Walmart, can you check the availability of the same movie on both sites? Do this for a couple of movies so we can see if they are all coming from the same pool of DVD's.

  13. you know what i checked the availablity of all my "long wait" movies from nextflix with ones from walmart.....the same ones(6 movies) on wallmart were "long wait also...... except for one movie.....but all my long wait movies are either really new movies, or old out of print ones...so i can understand why they are long awaited on both sites

  14. I was Netflix for a while and quit. The turnaround was about a week, which was unbearable, if you consider that I ripped DVDs overnight and returned them next day, sometime even the same day. And I had to wait for months for some titles I wanted. And then DVDs started getting lost in the mail, which means there was an employee theft problem in Netflix or USPS. I had no choice but quit. Hope Wal-Mart has titles I want and I don't have to wait .

My turnaround from netflix is generally one week also. Mail on Tuesday, receive on Tuesday.

Loved the Blockbuster story. Your defenitely on a first name basis with the staff...lol

I'm up to about 50, and I'm starting to be more selective. At first a challenge, now that I've aquired the knowledge and not as much of a charge.

Don't really want to copy all the menus and extras, just the flick itself.

  16. that pretty much sucks on your end......

i'm in los angeles california and the netflix collection area is REALLY close to los angeles also so it doesnt take very long for me to get movies back from netflix also there is a 24 hour post office near LAX (los angeles airport) that i use when i send them back ..that speeds the time also

if i mail them on monday i get other selections on friday

Same problem here! I started dropping the DVD's off at the Post Office instead of my mailbox. I'm not sure if my mail woman was taking them, but I figured the less people to handle them the better. Also, the last batch of DVD's that I returned to Netflix after I quit haven't arrived there yet. Damned if I'm gonna pay them $20 for each of them!

What kinda deal is that?!? I never heard of it. I too would love to rent that much but dont have the money for 4 bucks a pop. Is it online only or can you sign up for that plan in the stores to?

  19. I signed up for NetFlix 8 movies at a time deal. The day i pick the movies i want, they ship and i have them the next day waiting for me at the door, then the next day i mail them back, i can get about 16 movies in 1 week time. I am still having trouble learning how to copy a 2 layer movie to 1 dvd (AFTER stripping it to just the movie and sound) so i havent been getting many copied except for the single layer DVD's, but once i learn, 16 movies a week is a nice deal. I just cant wait for the price of DVD+R to drop. I just bought a spindle of 50 for $145 that included the DVD cases so it was ok.. but one good thing is i know a record store in my town that sells DVD+r and they give me TONS of trade for some side projects i do with them so i get a lot of those cheap. I cant wait until they are dirt cheap though, i wonder how long its going to be until it drops.

Since Walmart likes to censor, it's still a possibility that they are using a subset of NetFlix's catalog.
