    Why not try a CVD (352x576) at about 1500-2000 kbps?

  2. If you are going to burn this to a CD as XVCD as you say why not use as high a bitrate as your player can handle and so that it will still fit on one CD. According to the VCDHELP bitrate calc you can use a CBR of 2100. Thats the best quality you can get at VCD resolution and still fit on one 80min CD. As to wether it will be as good as the original, I doubt it just because of the lower rez but in the end that decision is up to you.

  3. hm yeah got a point there.. if 2100 is enough and that it only gets worse because of lower size then its ok with me
