    For SVCD: SmartRipper/DVD2AVI/TMPGenc/Nero
For DivX: Convert mpeg produced with TMPGenc to divx with Vidomi, and then burn as data with Nero.

These seem to give me the most consistent results as far as consistently controlling the quality and size of the output.

Does anyone have a similar experience? I've also been playing with DvdX and DVD2SVCD, but have yet to get exactly the output I want.

  2. yea...having separate software does give more flexibility and control

however, you can replace dvd2avi with flaskmpeg as the frameserver....one advantage of flask is that it can give you all the angles, so if a movie has both the theatrical version and director's version in the same vobs (using seamless branching or multi-angles), you can choose which version u want to encode

also, you can add vobsub/vdub in between dvd2avi and tmpgenc if you want subtitles (an alternative to using flask for subs)
