Help with burning miniDVD in Nero

I have Nero 5.5.9.14 and I'm having problems burning a miniDVD (a DVD but on a CD-R(W) instead of a DVD disc)...

I looked at:
http://www.vcdhelp.com/nerodvd.htm

and it shows me how to, but in Nero, it doesnt give me the option to select "DVD" under New complication. There is CD-ROM iso, Audio CD, CD copy, video CD... etc. but no DVD-Video, DVD-ROM... etc. In fact, when I click on the wizard, it gives me the option to burn a CD, but DD CD and DVD are greyed out.

Dumb question: Do I need a DVD-ROM and/or DVD-Burner on my PC to burn a miniDVD? Or can I even burn or read a miniDVD on my CD-writer? Do I need to download and install additional software or drivers for Nero to burn DVDs/miniDVDs?

First line in VCD help is (Tools:Nero 5.5.8.2 or higher and a -------DVD Writer of course---------------.)

AFAIK, Nero does not support the miniDVD format. I believe you can do it by authoring and burning direct from MyDVD (Ver 2.3 supports this, not sure about 3.xx)
