  1. I created SVCD with DVD2SVCD and played it in my standalone DVDplayer, at several scenes the picture was horizontally cut in half, upper side correctly lower side a bunch of grey blocks. During other scenes sometimes the sound came out as a short, ugly, very loud squeek
(don't know the correct term). Can it be that these bugs get into the converting process when i work with other programs on the computer while encoding the movie, like surfing in Internet or sending mail etc...??

Would be glad if someone could help me out since i don't wanna waste any more CD's

  2. Well maxx.

You don't wanna waste any more CD's huh
I know how it is. How to avoid it is to buy a RW-CD if your Burner can burn CD-RW and if the standalone DVD supports it.

I have converted some files to SVCD and i used TMPGenc. Guide found here on VCDhelp. So try using it. And Maxx Play the SVCD file on your computer before burning!! Use program such as PowerDVD in file mode.

Hope it will help you to succeed.

Thanks alot, hope it will work.
My burner supports RW but my standalone doesn't, so i'll try it with PowerDVD.

  4. A potential solution is that you may have burned the CD(s) at too high a speed as compared to what CD-R brand you were using. I use DVD2SVCD (GREAT PROGRAM) to back up my DVD's and have noticed SOMETIMES that when I burn it at 16X the movie will have the blocks (greenish) for a few seconds at different parts of the movie, however, when I reburn (I use Nero and burn the bin/que file) at lower speed 12x or 8x, the blocks are gone?

Don't know if its CD burning gremlins or what and I know that the burn speed has been debated in many a heated forum, but I'd suggest, if your CD burner can burn at slower speeds(4x or 8x) that you give it a try.

On the CD-R brand thing. Me personally, I get the free w/rebate CD's for the 100 bricks, so they are usually the cheapos and cant really say that the speed on THOSE CD's are the problem, but wanted to throw it out there as a possibility.

Thanks "Connor", anyway that can't be the cause, i'm always burning sensible stuff like videos or music at SINGLE speed
