  1. i HAVE BURNED A MEMOREX CD (SILVER CD-R) WITH DIGITAL VIDEO THAT i TOOK OF MY TRIP. I CREATED THE VIDEO IN AVI FORMAT AND CONVERTED IT TO MPEG1(vcd). I USED THE ISO 9600 PLATFORM. ADAPTEC CD CREATER SIGNALED THAT THE DISC WAS CORRECTLY CREATED. HOWEVER, WHEN I TRY TO PLAY IT ON MY APEX 500W (VCD COMPATABLE) DVD PLAYER, NOTHING HAPPENS. I JUST GET THE DISC LOADING MESSAGE BUT NO PLAY. WHAT'S GOING ON?

Well ISO 9600 means nothing really. Did you use the vcd burning function or just crate a data disk, (CD-ROM ISO)? You have to actually use the vcd burning function. If you havent already, make sure you click on the Author link and read how to burn vcds before doing anything else.

If you did use the vcd function then my recommendation is to download a software dvd player for your computer. Most programs come with a trial version which is all you need. Try playing it in that, if it recognizes it as a vcd and plays then your authoring and burning process is ok. This means that the problem is either you media or your dvd player. An apex should be extremely lenient when it comes to media so I would suspect that there is something defective about the dvd player if it wont play a compliant vcd. But try a couple different brands of media just to be sure.

  3. I have a APEX1500 and the only way to get a VCD to play is to use VCDImager to make a bin & cue file from the mpg file and then burn it with CDRWin. I tried EasyCDCreator and Nero with no success.

Did you use the VCDcreator Not the CreateCD. The VCD creator will only except correct mpeg files, and it creates sevral tracks on the cd.

I use it all the time, with no problems, if you view the VCD in your CD Rom it shows the first data track with a list of folders.
    ---------
    Cdi
    Ext
Mpegav (This folder will show Avseq01.dat)
    Segment
    Vcd
    ----------
The type of cd you use is also important, many of the cheap ones will not work in some players. TDK, MAXELL are very good.
