  2. as far as i'm aware you can't do it with Spruce-up, you'll need to get yourself something like DVD Maestro or Scenarist, there are plenty of subtitle guides for these two packages

  3. I would assume that you are demuxing the movie with Smartripper, transcoding with ReMpeg as needed and then authoring/remuxing with SpruceUp. If that is the case, then I would consider changing your process.

If you are going to use ReMpeg to transcode your movie, then I would definately learn to use IFOEDIT. I would use Smartripper (or DVD Decrypter) to rip the DVD (get the VIDEO_TS.* files as well as the main movie vobs). Then use IFOEDIT to strip the movie. Then ReMpeg (if necessary) and use IFOEDIT to remux the transcoded video directly back into your vobs. This will save you having to author with SpruceUp and you won't lose the subtitles.

Here is my tutorial on ripping with DVD Decrypter and stripping with IFOEDIT. Maybe that will help.

Read this tutorial by Derrow for information about using ReMpeg with IFOEDIT.
