Im capturing video in a DC-10+ and I want to convert the file to MPEG2 to create a SVCD. But I cant convert the file with TMPEG. I heard that the file captured with this card is not a real avi file, because the card captures in MJPEG. I tried to convert the file to real avi with studio 8 with Cinepak Codec but I lost a lot of quality. My question is
How can I convert the MJPEG avi file to an avi file I can convert with TMPEG or CCE?
How should I capture with Studio DC-10+ to get the best Quality?
Is it better to capture above the SVCD standard specifications?
What about bitrate the higher the better?
Too many questions, I know, Im sorry![]()
Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance![]()

TO ENCODE DC10+ AVI FILES:
1. Open the AVI file(s) with VirtualDub.
2. Use VirtualDub filters to tweak/resize/color-correct your AVI file. (optional)
3. Frameserve to Tmpgenc or CCE.
4. Manually choose the correct encoder options to produce your SVCD. (or just use the template)
5. Encode to MPEG 1 or 2
FOR BEST QUALITY USING DC10+:
1. Capture at 640x480 (NTSC) using highest video bitrate allowable (4000-6000 kbits/s) on your harddrive. Be sure to have a big 7200 rpm harddrive.
2. Learn the benefits of IVTC, use VirtualDub smart deinterlace filters, add in a blur, throw in a sharpen, a dab of unsharp mask and you got progressive quality video (no more horizontal lines and still very sharp video): makes for great viewability on computer screens, TVs, and on HDTV. -
Thanks bbb, your my man!!! Im sure your answer is also gonna help a lot of people who own the DC10+.

Tip on resizing: When using VirtualDub to resize (to SVCD resolution), resize as the very last filter to produce the clearest video quality.
Always use precise bicubic resize (smart resize filter).
