Could someone like Major or Mobodo make an ap that is like QTMutator but for mpeg 1 and 2. It would fix everyone syncing issues. and it would be a good thing to have anyway.

QTMutator is half-assed way to fix the sync problem - its not a real method to fixing our issues. The only way to fix this issue (according to makira) is have the audio and video converted at once all in one piece- and the next version of mediapipe is supposed to have that at least PARTIALLY integrated. I'm sure by 1.0 they will have the bug squashed (and yes for those scared by the interface it will be more user friendly from what i hear)

    So What
It would be a hell of a lot faster than going thru mediapipe.
Plus it would take a few seconds to fix the sync not encoding the whole thing over again.

  4. With Makira's latest overhaul of the MPEGDecoder, MediaPipe syncs on about 80% of the rips as it is now. Major has some real talent backing him up, we will see a step forward in the next release.

  7. Read this re-post. why there are sync issues. http://homepage.mac.com/rnc/PulldownSync.html
Note the part near the bottom about Pricess Bride and Finding Nemo swiching frame rates many time during the movie. Trying to sync up with QT Mutator would be insane to say the least.

FINALLY someone who understands why i think qt mutator and all that fuckign w/ the video and audio is insane-- and how is it going to be a waste of time? there is no way of getting around re-encoding the video from its original source if you want an svcd or vcd and your source is dvd? THINK about it.. in order to use qtmutator the movie FIRST has to be converted to quicktime movie format and THEN mpeg-2 or mpeg-1... once mediapipe has the issue fixed (which it is far from fixed in its current incarnation, i still have yet to get a single EPISODE of 22 minutes with variable frame rate to sync after running it through) So all mediapipe will do once it oversteps that boundary will make it a one conversion process like it should be, no messing w/ sync manually, why should we have to do something like that when there is an easier way to do it?

i didnt misread your post in the slightest... i know what you were asking and its not plausable. mpeg doesnt work like quicktime movie does.. if you wanted a program that would work like qt mutator it would have to re-encode the video/audio when you made the changes regardless, you cant just change the duration w/o re-encoding mpeg doesnt work like that to the best of my knowledge... in addition i was pointing out that you STILL NEED TO RE-ENCODE THE MPEG FROM ITS ORIGINAL FORMAT. There is NO getting around the initial re-encoding to lower the bitrate and change the size from 720x480 or 720x576 to 480x480 or 480x576 for SVCD or 352x240 or 352x288 for VCD... you need to re-encode the video BEFORE you would lose sync and BEFORE you would use a program that would be similiar to qt mutator instead for mpegs.. i didnt miss your point at all, you are just looking to the improper solution to the problem at hand.

  11. I don't think that an "mpeg mutator" or something like that would work because you'r dealing with a muxed track where as QT Mutator deals with .mov's and separate tracks. Anyways, here's a possible solution that I thought of that uses QT Mutator.

You'll need: ffmpegX/MMT, QT MPEG-2 Component (if making an SVCD), Developer Tools, OSeX, Mac3dec, QT Mutator

    1. Encode your movie (video only) to MPEG-1/MPEG-2 in ffmpegX or MMT.

    2. Rip AC3 audio from source with OSeX. Convert to AIFF with Mac3dec.

    3. Open video and audio files in Quicktime. Copy audio and add it to the video file. Select "Save As" from the file menu and save normally w/dependencies. Now you have a .mov.

    4. Open up the .mov in QT mutator and sync the audio.

    5. Using mp2enc in MMT, select your .mov to export audio to .mp2.

    6. Mux .m1v/.m2v and .mp2 in MMT or ffmpegX.

    7. In MMT, Generate the xml and build the disc.

    8. Burn in Toast.

Same thing with Not Another Teen Movie. That one took me awhile to sync.

    OK
    This is great.
It worked for 30 seconds of the movie but not the whole thing.
Plus when I add in the aiff the audio is distorted.
Also mmt and mediapipe wont find the audio file in the MOV ive saved.

  15. The direct from MOV to MP2 was broken in the last release of MediaPipe.
Export the audio to WAV or AIFF, then run though MP2 Encoder.
The authors are aware of this.
