  1. do this with CCE and get 5.1 sound?

Rip only movie and 5.1 sound with smart ripper to .m2v and .ac3 file

    If .m2v and ac3 are over 4.3 Gigs I reencode .m2v (movie) with Rempeg2

Load .m2v and .ac3 into Spruce Up and author, export to Title Set

    Burn with Nero.

    Has worked flawlessly...

So, how do you do this process with CCE and retain 5.1???

  2. If you use the DVD2SVCD program you can set the audio to "Do not covert audio, use source audio". Let DVD2SVCD go through its processes and use an authoring program to put it all together. I use DVD Maestro. There is a guide for using DVD@SVCD in the Dvd rip section. I used Tmpeg for a while and I get much better quality with CCE and it only takes about half the time.

  3. Daveyd, I used the same method that you do for months, and little if no problem except for the 20+ hour encode time. Then I ran into a couple of snags. First Rempeg hates Interlaced video. The encode time jumps from 20hrs to 120hrs on a amd 1.2 system. Second for some reason a couple of movies(Almost famous and willow) were really blocky with rempg.

I switched to the Dvd2svcd method about a month ago and was able to get by all these problems easily. the encode time went from 20hrs+ to around 10hrs and that is with 4pass vbr. I would suggest either learning to use cce to encode or switching to dvd2svcd and cce.

  4. Cool thanks for the info. WOW..it only takes me 4.5 hours to reencode on a AMD XP 2000+ box with 512 DDR333 RAM!! Does DVD2SVCD make files readable by CCE?

  5. no actually dvd2svcd actually works with cce so you only have to one 1 program for every thing but authoring. Dvd2svcd will rip then automatically use cce to rencode. and in the end you have a reencoded m2v file and a .ac3 that you can loud into dvd maestro(or your favorite authoring program) and compile.

  6. since u are using rempeg to do your transcoding u dont need to author your movie

..just rip your movie vobs to your HDD
..use rempeg to transcode your movie vobs
..use ifoedit to remux video back with the audio stream
ifoedit will create u a new video_ts and movie ifos

    save u some time!

and your method works exactly the same way with CCE because you are re-encoding the VIDEO only (unless u plan to do the audio too),
just rip the sound from the vobs and remux it back with a transcoded CCE video with an authoring program...that easy!
