  1. When I encode movies with TMPGEnc it doesn't matter what bitrate I choose for video or audio, the filezesize of my output file remains always the same.

    For example:
    I have a movie of about 78 mins. I want to encode it to PAL 352 x 288 / 25 fps / 44100 Hz Stereo

First I use DVD2AVI to get me the .d2v and .wav files. Then I load them into TMPGEnc.

    - When I choose a video bitrate of 1150 kbit/sec and a audio bitrate of 224 kbit/sec, TMPGEnc gives an estimated filesize of 780MB. After encoding the final filesize is 760MB. So almost correct.

    - When I choose a video bitrate of 500 kbit/sec and a audio bitrate of 192 kbit/sec, TMPGEnc gives an estimated filesize of 395MB. After encoding the final filesize is still 760MB, like the standard setting above. When I view the output file the quality is the same as the above file. So I presume nothing really changed.

    I did change the settings:
    - By entering them in The project wizard (page 4/5) of TMPGEnc
    - By clicking on the Expert command in The project wizard (page 4/5) of TMPGEnc and changing the values in the video and audio tab.
    - By not using the project wizard and choosing the 'settings' command in the main window and again changing the values in the video and audio tab.

I am using 700 MB CD-R to burn, so - at this moment - I allways have to cut my movies in 2. (Normally reducing the bitrates a little bit, could make the movie fit one 1 cd without a problem)

I did start using TMPGEnc from the next tutorial:
"The newbies guide to fitting a movie on one CD using TMPGEnc"

Anybody who could help me? Thanks in advance...

PS: Strange though, before TMPGEnc I was using DVDx and no matter what quality I choose (by reducing bitrates) I also always got the same filesize for the output file.

You are creating xvcd so be sure to set the stream type to mpeg-1 video cd(non-standard) in tmpgenc settings under System(click on expert if using the wizard). If you don't the vcd will be "padded" to vcd standard bitrate.
