Hi,
My system: 800 Mhz, 256 MB ram, win2k, hauppage win tv go, virtual dub etc.
An old sony hi8 cam. _PAL_
What I want to do: I have a lot of old hi8 tabes that I would like to take a backup of which must be viewable on most DVD players.
It would be best if the resulting (X)(S)VCD would be at least as good as the original tape.
But:
1) What codec should I use? I don't have much hdd so huff. is not optimal. And the other codec decribed in the "guides" is picvideo's MJPEG - but it is not freware. (And i would like a freeware solution). So which codec to use - and with which settings? divX5 - with a bitrate of 900?
2) In the guide of capturing to divX it is said that it is not optimal to do this: analog -> divX -> (S)VCD why?
3)In my case would it be best to use VCD or SVCD ???
4) My hi8 tapes are 90 min each - on how few cd's can this be stored (assuming the quality must not be too bad)?
Thanks in advance
-Niels
