  1. I have found all kinds of conversion instructions for everything else except this.

I know I can use Virtual Dub, But I was wondering what settings I would need. I have tried it once and got a file that was over 1G.

Any help would be wonderful. And this has already been posted somewhere I am sorry. I did do a search on the forum but could not find it.

Use Virtual Dub again. Before saving, select Video-->Compression. Select the MPEG-4 codecs to get good compression. This assumes you have the DivX codecs installed.

  4. I like to use Mpeg Mediator when i do dvd ripping and encoding, load your vob files into it, and only encode the video with Divx 5.0.x at 100% 1-pass quality with quater pixeling and bidirectional encoding on, do not compress audio or it will go out of sync, use PCM(uncompressed). you will get about 400MB/per 23 or 24 minutes, then use Virtual dub and decimate the video by 2, use the smoother filter at 100% with noise prefilter, Use Divx 3.11 Fast Motion at default settings, compress the audio with WMA V2 64kbps 44.1KHz for Audio/Video, and do a conversion to 44.1 with the high quality box checked. This should produce video at about 100MB per every 50-55 Minutes, at DVD Quality. (Important, do not run any other programs during any process involved with ripping or encoding, it can cause unexpected errors and larger file sizes.)
To burn or not to burn, that is the question.
