I am checking drivers, etc., but any help appreciated.
I just moved my Pinnacle DC10+ card to a new computer using XP from one using 98SE. I also transplanted a hard drive with my video on it.
TMPGENC-while another version-opened and encoded these files when on the first computer. Now, it won't, using Version 2.58 on the new one.
On the old computer I had DC10+ Studio, updated to V 1.6. On the new one, I'm using (trial version, temporarily) Studio 8. The driver I'm using-just to make things more complicated-came from the Studio 7 disk that came with my new computer. I may be premature in posting this, but often I wait too long to ask for help. Any help MUCH appreciated!
    Thanks.

are you sure that the.avi file is a good one?. Can you play the .avi in media player? Be sure it is not corrupted in any way.

    DC10, 20's and 30's use a hardware MJPEG for compression and de-compression.

You need to install a SOFTWARE MJPEG decompressor like Morgan MJPEG or PIC VIDEO MJPEG. You can also use VDub since it has built-in MJPEG routines ( pop-up additional settings when opening the file ) and frameserve to TMPGenc.

  4. Pinnacle has itself released a codec to make it possible to view movies made bij their cards. I couldn't find them on their site but I can mail them to you... in fact... i will mail them now....

    Thanks for the replies.

Yes, I've tried different files, including one that TMPGENC had encoded previously on the other computer-so I don't think corruption is the problem.

Jack, I received the file, but haven't tried it yet. I appreciate it, but my question is, why would TMPGENC(an earlier version) previously open and encode the file on the 98SE computer(but not anymore, since deinstalling DC10, and not on the XP one at all? Where was the CODEC coming from before? Anyhow, before I try the file you sent, I am going to uninstall my trial Studio8 and install my Studio 7 that came with the computer and then upgrade to the full version of Studio 8,(upgrade from S7 less $ than just buying S8) and see if anything changes.

    Thanks again.
