am trying to create a wav file from a high quality avi file. However when i open the avi file in virtualdub I get the following error message
Virtual Dub has detected an improper VBR audio encoding in the source file and will rewrite the header with standard CBR values. This may introduce up to 11350 ms of skew from the video stream. If this is unacceptable (which it is) decompress the entire audio stream to an uncompressed WAV file and recompress with a constant bit rate encoder. Bitrate : 190.4 =/- 22.3kbps.
erm ... what does this mean and what do I do now ??
Thanks

Click on audio and select full processing mode, also select convert to 44.1khz (if creating (S)VCD), click on compression and make sure no compression pcm is selected. Then click on file, save wav as, and save the wav file. The file will be large, about 10mb/min. If you wanted to create an mpeg for vcd or svcd, this is also the method you would need to use to make sure the audio stayed in sync. You would use this wav file as the audio source when encoding.
