  1. Hi hope this is in the correct section,
I have just installed the latest drivers for my hp 8220e external usb drive for WIN XP downloaded directly from www.HP.com . I then installed Nero 5.5.8.2 and when I go and check on "select burner" it will show my burner being present in the list, but will only see speeds at 1times (max 4) and any media I insert in the drive, nero will show me 0mb space. I also tryed recently to install the latest version from the nero site 5.9.9.14 and that wont even recognize my burner as being present.

I tryed to download both the WNASPI32.DLL and the CDROM.CFG files from the nero site, with the result of my burner disappearing from the "select burner" option. I also tryed uninstalling all other burning software and got the same result.

I do see the HP8200e drive as being supported, and know that it works as I was using it with my previous WINDOWS ME PC.

I checked adaptec and have the latest aspi driver. Moreover, Diskjuggler and firebrner work wanderfully.
Please let me know what I can do to solve this problem

  4. Well, honestly I have no idea. I have it connected to the usb port on my mother board, that is for sure. The strange thing is that diskjuggler, winoncd, and cdrwin both recognize the burner as being present.......the only peculiar thing that I noticed, is that when I installed winoncd it installed a third drive F:\ but besides that it seems to recognize the burner just fine......

i also have an hp,and ext cd writer. my writer is 32/10/40,but it will only write at 4times. your problem is that you only have a usb 1.1. to reach the max speed you need usb 2.0.
