I've got about twenty 2 Gig files in YUY2 format from virtual dub. How do I take all 20 parts and make it go to just one big mpeg-2 file in Cinema Craft 2.50?

Actually I will probably do 10 files and 10 files to make 2 parts.

Anyone know the problem I'm getting at? With TMPEG I just use the virtualdub file server, I don't think I can do this for Cinema Craft.

First of all, startup VirtualDub, goto File select your first AVI file and hit open, now goto APPEND AVI SEGMENT in the file TAB and select your second AVI, keep repeating the APPEND AVI SEGMENT untill you have selected all your AVI's.

Now go down to Save Avi in File TAB and choose a location to save the avi to, give it a name and hit save " MAKE SURE YOUR CHOOSE DIRECT STREAM COPY FOR BOTH VIDEO AND AUDIO in the VIDEO AND AUDIO TABS BEFORE YOU SAVE".

This will take a while so sit back and relaxed, or get a cup of coffee or someting .

Now when it's finished joining all of those AVI files togther close Virtual Dub down, then goto the Virtual Dub folder and install the handler then startup Virtual Dub again, goto file and choose you Joined AVI, goto down to SAVE WAV and choose where to save the Wav file to and save it.

Once done, goto AUDIO and select your now extracted wav file, then goto the Video Tab and select filters click on the add button and look for the resize filter and highlight it then double click on it, here you can choose the Resolution of your AVI to be converted 480x480 for NTSC or 480x576 for PAL, then put the FILTER MODE to PRECISE BICUBIC(A=-100) and enable the Expand Frame And Letterbox Image by checking it, then click OK.

Now click on the Cropping button and in the next window use the X1,X2 Y1,Y2 buttons to remove any borders, then juck click OK, then OK again.

Then go back to the file tab and select the Startframe Server, then hit start on the next window, and on the next window Give your AVI File a .vdr extension like the following example......

If you where going to convert say SCREAM then it would look like this SCREAM.vdr

Once you've done that do not close down VirtualDub, startup CCE and in the main window right click, choose add, put file types to all and seclect your .vdr, it should now appear in the main window, right click on it and choose EDIT, in there uncheck the audio option cause CCE is SHIT when it comes to converting audio.

You can choose if you want 1 Pass cbr, or multipass VBR and the rest i'll leave up to you.

  4. If your AVIs are result of segmented capturing (I think they should be), you can use SegmentedAVISource function in Avisynth and frameserve directly into CCE (you may need to rename them accordingly).

Otherwise, you need to be lucky. VirtualDub is very picky at joining or aligning AVIs with diffrent format, even the slightest difference in video stream, audio stream, frame rate will cause VDub to reject it. In other words, your AVIs must be identical in everything. I don't recommend appending those huge AVI files. It's just too simplistic. If it can't be done with Avisynth, it surely can't be done with VirtualDub.

Actually... if the AVI's are ready to go then CCE directly supports multi-AVI encoding. I do this method 99% of the time.

Add the first AVI as a new job. Open the job and click settings. Add the remaining segments on this page. You can do simple range editing here. Click OK.

Do up your other settings as normal and encode.

Ahhh, you see I was adding all the segment files because I couldn't figure out how to do it. I will try tonight using just the 1st file and then going to settings once I pick the file. I'll let you know how it turns out.
