  1. im using TPMGEnc and burning with Nero 5.5, and when my dvd player plays the VCD, it takes a good 5-10second pause while continuing to the next track. is that normal? because if i were to make a movie with chapters, the pause would be extremely annoying.

Yes thats normal. There will almost always be at least a slight pause. You can minimize the pause by burning in dao and by setting the pause time to 0 in nero, but whether you can get totally seamless transistion depends on your dvd player. If your dvd player still causes a pause then you should just settle with the chapters that are supported by the vcd standards. Use video pack 4.0, I-Author, or vcdimager to make true vcd chapters. They don't function exactly like dvd chapters but they will play seamlessly on all dvd players and still allow you to navigate through your movie.

  5. is this all one movie?? if so, why dont you join the mpgs together as one file before burning..thus elimanating the multiple tracks??...you then won't have to worry about the pause

  6. What I'm making is an mpeg concert on VCD. I want to be able to skip to any song but I also want to be able to watch it seamlessly. Any ideas?

The problem is in Nero it defaults with a 5 second pause between tracks. Layout all your tracks in the layout, right click the track, go to properties. Change the pause from 5 seconds to 0 seconds. Done Deal.

  8. I actually did that in Nero (set it to 0) and the pause still happens.

  9. You should make all your clips on long/big MPEG then use VCDImager to add tracks to the I-frames. This will get rig of the pauses but still allow you to hit next/skip to go to a new section of the x(S)VCD.
