i have a pentium 4 1.6ghz and 512 ram i am trying to capture 1 hour of digital video onto my computer(40gig) to burn to a vcd. i have a firewire slot that came with my computer and have tried a software program called videowave but it stops it after about 7 minutes. is there anyway or any program which would allow me to capture the whole 1 hour. and also should i save as a mpeg 1 or2 or avi and then convert with tmpgne to make it vcd compliant

If you are running WinXP, you can run the MS Movie Maker that comes with it to capture your iLink/Firewire/IEEE1394 video stream to DV-AVI format.
If you can't find it, go to c:\Program Files and you'll see it. Usually it runs automatically after you switched on your camcorder (provided the firewire is connected to your firewire port).
