  1. I read that you can use TMPGenc to change the header of the mpeg-2 video to a VCD header, which would trick the DVD player into thinking it's a vcd. They say that it should still play it since dvd players do play dvd's which i guess is mpeg-2. The guide shows how to change the header of an SVCD video file. I was wondering if it also works for an XSVCD file.

My video file is an XSVCD encoded with 2-pass VBR, avg bitrate - 2000, max bitrate - 3500. After I did the simple multiplex step, TMPGenc said something about buffer overflow or something like that. I was wondering what this was and if it affected the playback of the file in the standalone DVD player. My DVD player is Apex 1500 and it plays the XSVCD nicely! I was just wondering if it would play nicely in my girlfriend's JVC XV-521 DVD player.

Also just wanted to know who's tried this method and how stable it plays on any dvd player (more specifically JVC XV-521). Thanks for the read!

you had set an incorrect size VBV size based on vcd vs. svcd .. but it really will not mater on most standalone players ... you might see a brief flash like a dropped frame is about it for a over flow ... on most systems ..
