  3. I dont know, its strange. I have tried downloading it from several different sources and they all do not install. I get the same error that it is missing a file. Maybe the links i have been getting it from are bad and that it is not the entire install. I got to find a working version somewhere.

    what is the name of the dll?
    Possibly you got a DVDMaestro Version which needs Cinemaster for preview, but I'm not sure.

  6. the file is mfc42u.dll . I downloaded it from google and then it gave me another error about shell relocation. I dont know what this is about but ive never had trouble like this before. I dont know what i am going to do about not having this program because with the guide i am using for dvd copying with 2 layers, it says i need dvdmaestro.

    dvdmaestro is an authoring program and has nothing to do with copying ...

    if you were to make a dual layer disk you would also need a DLT tape machine and layup your compiled project to tape and send it away ...

    i say again -- are trying to install this on a non NT system ?

  8. I've been using dvd maestro with the same error for months. I really do not need the preview. The program will function right except for the preview. Compile the dvd and burn with nero. It really works well if you just laying out a movie with subs and audio tracks.

  9. I am using blackouts DVD to DVDr guide and i can copy and iso exact if it is single layer. In his instructions, it says that if the DVD is 2 layers than i must rip it with the main movie, the subtitles and the main audio track. Than the instructions say that i need dvdmaestro to author them to DVD. If anyone else has instructions which i could use to rip a 2 layer dvd with just the audio and main movie file, please let me know. It seems that blackouts version seemed a lot less complicated and i dont want to have to wait a day for files to convert. If there is a way i can rip and then burn the movie that would be great. I have been trying to use dvdmaestro on ME, but i have 2000 on one of my servers, i will try to see if it will install on there in the meantime.

    its not so much a question of ripping a dual layer disk but how are you going to burn a dual layer disk ? you will have to either re-encode or will have to split to 2 disks and if you do or do not use maestro makes no difference ..

  12. If you're lucky, you may be able to find a DVDMaestro 2.9 that does not require installation. This one will have no setup.exe. You just create a folder and dump these files in it and run DVDMaestro.exe to start the program. Keep looking! Six billion people the world. Someone should have it!

  13. You guys ROCK and i really appreciate this help. I do not want to rip an entire 2 layer dvd, all i want to do is be able to rip the main movie and audio and forget about the rest. I am not sure how to do that without having to convert and author. I am going to mess around and see what i can do with it. If anyone has an easier guide to do it, let me know. Thanks

  14. Hey ElectricAden,

    Check out the DVD2DVDR for Dummies. That has helped me quite a bit. That will let you:

    1. Decrypt the VOB files (and rip the main movie) off of the original DVD disc;
    2. Rip the audio files from the main movie;
    3. Encode the main movie from 4gb+ to a DVD±R-friendly 2-3gb file;
    4. Rip chapters so you can hit skip from chp to chptrs
    5. Create a compilation of the new video files, audio files, and chapters;
    6. and finally, Burn a nice DVD disc layout onto a DVD±R, good quality.

    Dual layer or single layer, doesn't matter. The DVD2DVDR for Dummies is well written for dummies like you and me!

  15. Why hasn't anyone answered the people asking about what OS you are running?

    IT DOES NOT RUN ON 98 or ME, that is the 99% chance of your error.

    He answered

    ElectricAden,

    You might want to try using IFOEDIT to strip the DVD first. If you go down to the 3rd or 4th post in Blackout's tutorial thread, you will see my tutorial on using IFOEDIT to strip DVD's.
