Installing WinDVD without DVD-ROM

Is this at all possible, can I get passed the DVD-ROM not detected error message to play vob files direct from the hard disk?

I am not sure. I have not worked with WinDVD. Did you try PowerDVD?

yes absolutely--i run win98se----install-(click ok)..once installed-goto lefthand side player button- right click---choose open from file, --selecct file etc............. i do not have a dvd-rom----i love it--2 me it's better than wmp!!!!!!!!!

I installed WinDVD 3.1 before I put a DVD in my system and I didn't get any error messages.

You can definitely install PowerDVD without a DVD-ROM drive as well...

if you install windvd with no cdrom or dvd you will get a error msg "no cdrom found" which pops up twice when playing a file before it accually starts playing ... just hit ok and all it well anyway and it will play the file ... though its rare that someone would have no cd or dvd player in their system except perhaps me at times ...

u can install ATI Media Center w/o an ATI Card, just can't use the TV program, but u can use the DVD.

U dont get no damn error msg... u can use windvd to play not only dvds but (s)vcd to which mean u do not have to have a dvd-rom drive. cause i dont and there is no error msg or shit. infact it can even autoplay vcds from cd-rom drive...i jus have a tdk 40x12x48B thats it

if you could read a little better - you would have understood that i was talking about NO cd player or dvd player installed ...

take out out cd player and you will get a error msg ...

next time read a little more carefull before putting your foot into it ..
