I have played around with the settings on TMPEnc and have created a VCD with a resolution of 720x480 by using the resolution setting of 1:1 VGA, encoded from an AVI original.
It plays perfectly well in my DVD player, so I just wanted to know, is this strictly a VCD, but should all VCDs be at 352x288?
The amount of space on the CD is not of SVCD standard, as the bit rate used is VCD 1150 kbits.

So no, you dont have to stick to 352x240/288, but just remember an XVCD is outside DVD specs and will not work for everyone.
I prefer the higher resolution VCD (352x480 or 704x480) with average bitrate around 2000 myself. -
I think that you can gather that I am a bit of a newbie at this, but thank you for your info. I am still in the experimental stage and still trying to find the settings that I like the most.
Thanks again.Cole
