How can I burn a VCD with Nero that will really play? I made a VCD with the directions here: http://www.vcdhelp.com/nero.htm. It will play on the computer by accessing the .dat file but the DVD player just spins at a high speed then ejects the CD! Is there some way to make one that works? TIA

Not all dvd players will play burned VCD's and some dvd players dont play cdr's or cdrw's.

Check the compatability list to see what your player can handle

I know that! It's a Sharp DV-600, the chart says it plays VCD's.
However Windows Media player can't play the VCD if I just put it in and click on Play. I have to find and select the .dat file before it will play.
How does a DVD player have any chance of playing it? There's no way to select the .dat file manually so I don't see how it could ever work.

If your dvd player supports VCD then you dont need to locate like on your computer. it should just start playing it. Also if you would read my full post and follow what i said you find out that your sharp dv-600 does not support CDR's according to the chart. It will use cdrw's or professional VCD. If you want to have your computer auto play it you can create an autorun.inf file and burn that as part of your VCD, But thats a whole other topic

CD-RW? That sucks, my disks are only 4X so it will take forever to record.
