  2. a friend of mine had the same probleme with studio 8 and a sony camcorder. we installed windows xp a several times with no success, always the message you get as well!!!

the solution (believe it or not): it was the cable (firewire) between camcorder and pc, that was it!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. silmis, my friend, I feel for you.

I know this is probably not the answer you are looking for, but...

Pinnacle IS A PIECE OF CRAP!!!

If you don't believe me, check the forums at www.pinnaclesys.com. I don't think I ever used software as buggy as this. If you're stuck on capturing, wait till you get to trying to output the movie!!! Go to pinnacle's forum in search for "Audio/Video sync problem", see how many posts there are. And do you know what Pinnacle's response to that problem is? "We cannot reproduce this error." End of story.

I also have friends who do this professionally, and have lots of complaints about their high-end Pinnacle products.

Find something else, I won't make recommendations so that no one one will think that I am an employee of Pinnacle's competition.

Didn't mean to depress you, I just remember how it was for me!

    Good Luck!

  5. Pinnacle does S*CK sometimes but it is farout the most friendly programm around at this time. But you are right when you say it is Buggy! Well I've to recall that, it is not so buggy as well as it is a bit picky on your sys. I cursed it for over 6 weeks and wished I never bought the damn thing but at the end it just worked very smooth.

Try this very simple thing. Check if the 1394iee is active in your os and if so uninstall and re-install it with ST8. When this is not working try another PCI! Pinnacle says as far as possible from your graphics card but I say take PCI 1 or 2 (higher on in your slots less loss of power, 300Watts Powersup????) I had render problems for 6 weeks and tried to render without the capturecard and suddenl it worked, then I replaced it in another slot and suddenly it workes all fine
Wish you luck in search of your succes with ST.8

  6. You can capture your DV with Windows Movie Maker and then import it in Studio 8.

  7. So let me know a good DV capture program. I have the same problem with my Sony camera using Pinnacle 8 with XP. I have a second computer using ME and I can capture with no problems.

  8. I installed the firewire card from my old machine and whalla, I could capture from my camera. I know it does not solve the problem, but a new capture card might be a solution.

  9. Good capturing can be done in Studio 8, but there is more ofcourse. I didn't search for any other programms yet because I think St.8 is not freeware and therefor I won't take No for an answer. And look at Studio now... it works fine, just fine! Even rendering into SVCD comp. files it works great. TMPGenc is a fraction better in wizard setup and much better in personal setup but St does the trick.
But nevertheless a suggestion... UleadVideo Studio seems to be fine.

Of course there are pro and contra for studio 8. For me it's a most friendly and easy programme that i ever found. My problem already solved actually. I'm unistall an adobe programme and capture card DV500 controller programme, take out a capture card.
Follow this step evrything back to normal..Install a studio 8 . install a card and again install a controller. the problem occured if we not follow this step, i prove it.. funny. Thank for yur support.
