I am getting the error "can not open or unsupported" when I try to open a avi in TMPGEnc, but the thing is I have opened the same files with it lastnight. Any reason for this?

Something was messed up in the registry, I guess. You might need to reset your AVI file settings all over in the registry. Try this one and see if it fix it:

hmm no good, it's still doing the same thing.
I also have another problem. The other day I downloaded Ringu and it does not play in Windows Media and gives me "format not supported", but it plays perfectly in Real.
