  1. Microsoft says I need Directshow filter and that 3rd party has them.

    But installing PowerDVD 4.0, mpeg2 files can be played in powerdvd
    but NOT in Windows MediaPlayer.

    How do you activate this DirectShow Filter?

  2. windows media 9 isnt very reliable...like many beta
    versions...sp1 sucks alot also

    You didn't did you?? You went and downloaded WMP 9 beta. I hope you created a restore point before installing it because that's the only way you’re going to fix this problem and even then you'll probably end up doing a repair installation. There is a whole thread over at http://www.dslreports.com in the Microsoft help section of their forum on the damage this beast has done. It's one of the reasons why it's been pulled from the Windows Update site. I wish I could offer more help, but this thing is a bear to get rid of.
