I just ripped a chinese movie with English Subtitles, so I would like to know to add it to the mpeg. I ripped the DVD with SmartRipper, but can't seem to find a guide that tell me how to add the subs and encode with TMPG. Please share any experiece you may have in this area. Thanks.

The best DVD ripper is DVDX. It is free, and you can add subtitles too. It actually do all the job for you.

How does the quality of the encode compare with TMPG, which is usually excellent? I'm not willing to give up quality for easy of use, but thanks for your recommendation.

I use DVDX 2.0 with what I think give good results, does anyone know of a TMPG file I can download to compare with what I think are excellent results using DVDX.
VCD results are quite acceptable on my setup, SVCD are almost undistinguisable from the DVD!. 8) -
Colindale,
Thanks for the endorsement of DVDx, I'll will consider using it. As for sample movies with TMPG, please follow the link below for sample movies. I believe you will find that this encoder is one of the best available. Take a look.
