  1. I've been converting movies for a year or two now and have never run into this problem. I have a DivX movie that I'm converting to SVCD and plan to put on 2 discs. Normally I like to split the movie first into two parts and then convert with TMPGenc. Here's the problem.
When I go to use the "source range" function in TMPGenc it hangs and freezes. I know if you convert first and then split TMPGenc hangs from time to time, but it will split the movie. I'm trying to split the movie before I convert. So next I load the movie into Vdub to split it. I get the first part to cut fine. When I go to cut the second part I get this error:
"Audio Stream Source Error : file read error (8004406d)"
I've never gotten this error before and I was wondering if anyone can shed any light on it for me.

  2. You don't need to split the movie first while its a DIVX.
The quickest and easiest way (I find)is to use the Source Range and Batch Convert in TMPGE.
It basically splits the file to your requirements during the encoding process.
It may also help by extracting the audio as a WAV first using Virtualdub using instructions here:
    http://www.vcdhelp.com/virtualdubaudio.htm
Then use resulting WAV as audio source in TMPGE

encode your whole movie to svcd, then follow this to cut it: http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=119181

Since you are obviously experienced at this and done it many times before one could suspect some kind of file error.

Did you check the file for errors in vdub?
There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway.
