  1. Hi all!

I'm trying to archive my Hi8 camcorder tapes to CVD (352x480). I don't want to go the SVCD route (and have to re-encode everything later on).

I downloaded the CVD Nero image from this site http://www.vcdhelp.com/svcd

and it played great on my Apex 3201 DVD player.

But nothing I burned with Nero would play correctly. (SVCD, Compliancy turned OFF).

I inspected the downloaded file and it appears be a MPEG2 file with a MPEG1 header?

Out of frustration, I burned my CVD using the demo of Ulead Movie Factory (it created some type of XSCVD?). Quality was good.

[captures direct from my ATI AIW128 and after TMPGE processing both played in WINDVD4 and on the ULead/Apex CVD)

This gives me what I want to do:
    1) Create CVDs that will play on my DVD player
    2) Create files that I can move to DVD-R in the future without having to re-encode the files.

    QUESTIONS:
Is there a bug or issue with Nero that prevents the creation of CVD?
Has anyone else had this problem?

thanks in advance for your advice!

  2. Adding a MPEG1 header to the MPEG2 file may be the key. I have to do this to get one on my DVD players to play SVCD's that are not standard (2520 video/224 audio).

Use the multiplex function under MPEG Tools... in TMPEGEnc. Select "MPEG1 Video CD (non-standard)" as the output.
