do i need to install developer tools to use mediapipe?

do i need to install developer tools to use mediapipe? or for ffmepgx or mjpeg tools or any of these os x ripping s/vcd creation tools?? or is 10.2.1 all i need to have running?? just curious before i try to set these things up.

and if i do need dev. tools, is the one that came with my jaguar cd's the one to use? or do i need a different one?? and is it pretty straight forward to install? i have no idea what dev. tools is so sorry if this is a dumb question.

As far as I know, the only thing that requires compiling is the MP2 Encoder in MediaPipe (you could ask around and find it pre-compiled). However, if your going to play on the "Bleeding Edge" of Mac OS X video, sooner or later you are going to need it. There is a free August update at Apple Developer site that came out after Jaguar release, but it is not required most of the time.

Would someone be kind enough to provide a link or private message telling me where to find a compiled version of the MP2 Encoder in MediaPipe?

I was able to add mpeg2enc to MissingMpegTools (MMT) by copying the compiled version (from http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=111041&highlight=compiling) into the MMT Package. I also copied mp2enc from the latest ffmpegX Package, but can't use it without the MP2 Encoder Pipe. I'm hesitant to load the Apple Developer Tools because the files are so large, I'm not sure what kind of changes it'll make to my system, & I'm not sure if these changes are easily reversible. Just trying to uninstall MediaPipe by hand was challenging enough, and it's not nearly as big a download. So, can someone please help me out? Thanks!
