  1. I have a LG 32x10x40x CD-Writer and it comes with EasyCD Creator 5 Basic. I have been using it for data backup and home movies backup. I'd like to create VCD/SVCD for some home moves and send it to may family out of the country.

Can someone please tell me should I simply upgrade EasyCD Creator 5 to the latest version which comes with "Create VCD" ? Or I should buy other VCD/SVCD burner software. If so, what product would you recommend ?

PS: I'm running Win XP on my Pentium 4 1.8GHz PC with 512MB RAM

Thanks in advance any of your advise.

    Regards

  2. If you are looking to create S/VCDs, my advice to you is to not buy anything!!

Arguable, the best (in terms of power and flexibility) S/VCD authoring system is VCDImager and it is open source (i.e., free software). VCDEasy, one of the GUIs of VCDImager allows easier usage for beginners and can make some simple VCDs (with menus and chapters!). Included with VCDEasy is CDRDAO (an open source burning proggy) that allows you to burn the VCD/SVCD images made by VCDEasy.

There are a lot of resources on using VCDImager and VCDEasy on this site so don't hesitate to use the search function and find out more.

    VCDImager: http://www.vcdimager.org
    VCDImager Authoring Guides: http://www.vcdimager.org/guides
    VCDEasy: http://www.vcdeasy.org
