    I saw it in a shop, claims to play DVD, SVCD, VCD, mp3, CD-R, has DD 5.1 encoder, separate outputs, DV out, S-video out, AV out. Has anyone had experience with it, especially with SVCD CD-R/RW?

    I can't tell you about that model, but I bought the Akai ADV1000, and it plays everything except MP3, great player and very cheap too.
