  1. I installed all the updates for my ATI all in wonder radeon 7500 last night. I followed the installation tips and included notes with each driver. All the installation went by without a single problem until I tried to use the new applications of version 7.7 The library program will not even start, giving a "failed to initialize program" message. And the tv application, the sole purpose of having this card does not have a capture section anymore. yes I said the capture is gone!! There is no way to set the capture settings, capture or even schedule a capture. I have contacted ATI now 3 times with the same ignorant response. They give me a freaking link to the FAQ for the card!!! I am really upset that they would release a driver set without even doing the most basic of testing like the CAPTURE PROCESS!!...any help from someone who might have resolved this would be greatly appreciated.

I am running win xp pro, direct x 8.1 with the latest windows media codecs

  2. did you uninstall all of the old software before installing the new software, because if you didn't then that's your problem.

  3. Yes I uninstalled everything... Only thing missing is the capture portion...on the left hand side of the tuner control panel. there used to be a button for tv-on-demand...it is completly gone...when u schedule something to record, it only plays...and in gemstart u cant record it is and option but when u choose it nothing happens...it nevers prompts for the quality like it did b4 !

  7. You are sure you uninstalled the MMC, and the drivers (also control panel) prior to installinf the new drivers and MMC. You used add/remove programs for uninstalling ??

Furthermore, did you install as follows:

    1. Capture Drivers (no reboot)
    2. Drivers
    Reboot
    3. Control panel (reboot)
    4. MMC

I had a similar problem some time ago. It was releated to the old drivers not being properly uninstalled

  8. MMC 7.7.0.1 works just fine for me.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  9. You are absolutly correct.....I installed the updated ATI Driver and MMC for my AIW Radeon, and it wouldn't do anything!! It is the reponsiblity of ATI ( or any video card company) to test their updated drivers before it is released to the public. Unfortunatly, ATI didn't think much about the consumers that purchased their video cards to test the updated driver and other updates to their software/hardware. I ended up reinstalling the original driver and MMC programs that came with the card. Now everything works again. Never again will I trust ATI videocard updates!
    Now...where is my sonic screwdriver?

  10. I have the same problem when updated video driver for my ATI AIW Radeon on Win XP pro. First I have to uninstall everything (video driver, capture, mmc, dvd) then reboot, then

    install video capture wdm-6-13-10-6125v5
    do not reboot
    install video driver WXP-RADEON-6-13-10-6166-EFG
    reboot
    install DVD-7-6
    reboot
    install mmc-7-7-0-1-noDVD
    reboot

    After that everything work fine.
    Hope this help.

  11. When installing a new version of MMC, be sure to remove all traces of the old installation, including directories and registry entries.

nphan has the correct order for reinstalling MMC 7.7.0.1, except he forgot to include installing the Guide+ software, which should be installed after the MMC software. The Guide+ software is on your original CD, which you would have needed to have to install the DVD player.

Getting the file library to work is a different problem. There is a thread on Rage3D forum which discusses this problem and the fix for it.

    http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33629249

Basically, ATI forgot to include a .DLL called ATIOOPS.DLL in MMC 7.7.0.1.

Here is the fix, as written by mkraft on the Rage3D forum:

    *****************************************

    I uploaded it to http://mywebpages.comcast.net/mkraft/Atioops.dll

You need to place the file in your MLibrary directory: "C:\Program Files\ATI Multimedia\MLibrary\Atioops.dll" by default.

If the library program still doesn't work go to start->run and type:

    regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\ATI Multimedia\MLibrary\Atioops.dll"

    replacing the path if necessary.

    *****************************************

Removing all traces of the original ATI installation, including registry entries, installing the components in the right order, and applying mkraft's fix resolved all MMC 7.7.0.1 problems on my Win2K Pro system.

As far as 7.7.0.1 goes i d/l that version but when it runs it says it is 7.7.0.0_web version. ATI SUPPORT BLOWS...they sent me the same links to radeon issues again when i emailed them this time.. I will try the fix that u provided, but this still does not help that there is NO CAPTURE !!!

    RFontenot,
Thanks for the tip on the dll. Personally I don't use the library function, but it bugs the hell out of me when something doesn't work. Now it does. By the way did you happen to e-mail ATI about this fix? You'd think with all the so called high priced talent that they have that they'd have caught this.
    Warning! I'm baaaaaaaaack

  15. I had to turn down the hardware accelerator from full speed to the 2nd notch to install the program, then back up to get it to work. Good Luck

  16. I found the library fix by searching Google using the error message. psil0, you might want to do the same with your capture problem. You might also try running the install script again and select the "repair" option. Every so often I can't get the DVD or File player to play MPEG-2 videos. Rebooting doesn't help, but "repairing" the installation usually does. Kinda sucks when you think about it, but ATI's software has always been buggy one way or another.

Ever since I've upgraded to the new Catalyst drivers, every so often when I hit the "Mute" button on my MS Keyboard, it reboots the box. It's kind of like Russian roulette, I never know when it will happen, but when it does, it's just like hitting the reset button.

Must be a new "feature" that ATI forgot to document.

  18. I'm having problems with this. I can't even get to the capture part. I've followed the rules, EXACTLY and when I go through the TV installation Wizard, I set my audio source as Line-in, but then when the TV pops up, it shows MONO, and I get no sound. I've done this for hours already to no avail. I've verified my mixer settings as well, that the recording input is line-in. Any suggestions?
