  1. Hrm .. i used the simplest stripping method out there .. was a fairly small movie (scorpion king wide) so it easily fit without re-encoding ..

Problem I am having is i stripped out all the audio tracks but the eng ac3 and the first subtitle stream .. but .. this subtitle stream is always on .. this is soooooooooooo annoying. I.e. i see the english subtitles while watching an english movie ..

I was told to strip the first subtitle stream so you get any "natives" translations that are going on .. but i end up with everything subtitled and that sucks .. how do i get rid of the english subtitles but maintain whatever i need to see "native" translations of non english speaking actors in the movies ?

Who told you this? I always strip everything BUT the 1st stream (which is usually the English subtitles). I haven't had any problems with the translations of non english speaking actors. I never turn subtitles on, but I did check Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and they worked fine

  3. enemy ,

    i mispoke

when i said strip i meant i kept the english subtitles rather then got rid of .. but the english titles are always on even tho my player says they are off they show up .. so i'm thinking about stripping them out also .. but then i lose the native translations dont i ?

  6. Sounds like the problem i originally had with lord of the rings (PAL), it turns one subtitle stream on by default as there are parts of the movie where they are needed, I got round it by ripping both subtitle tracks to see which had the least .BMP's and just imported that one, works great.

By the way LOTR switches the second stream on by default
