Downloaded the movie HEIST in DivX format. When I try to convert to VCD using TMPGEnc2.58 then video and audio are out of sync. Have tried all the usual, ie. extracting audio, using VDub to create stream, adding video and audio as seperate components, even tried (please forgive me LOL ) Windows Movie Maker etc etc but nothing seems to work.
    Anyone any ideas??

    Neeed...More...Info

Seriously though. Was the movie in two or more parts? What type of audio did it have (AC3, MP3, MP2, etc).

What process did you use to get it from DIVX to MPG?

The movie was a DVD Rip in one part.
    Video: DivXMPG4 V3 23frames/s Data Rate 113kbps Video sample size 24 bit.
Audio: Mpeg Layer 3 117 kbps.
I extracted audio using CoolEdit Pro2 and saved it as an uncompressed .wav file.

I use TMPGEnc to convert .avi to Mpeg1

Did you add the audio in during the encode to VCD in TMPGenc, or after the fact?

As another option, try saving the audio out of Virtual Dub. I'm not familiar with CoolEdit, but most DIVX rips are in 48Khz (DVD) audio. I'm guessing at some point it was resampled to 44Khz.

I always save my audio in VirtualDub (FILE | SAVE WAVE). Rename it back to whatever type is is (.MP3 in your case), and convert using BeSweet GUI ( Use SSRC to resample the audio to 44.1Khz)...the BeSweet GUI handles BeSweet, TooLame, SSRC, and OGG). All of the above are freeware, and can be found in the Tools section on the left, or at the Doom9 site ( www.doom9.org ) in the downloads section. At the doom9 site, click on the "Show Me More" links to get a full download list.

Thanks for all the advice guys, I finally got it sorted.
There was some glitch that caused the video to pause while the audio continued thus causing the out of sync. Used DivFix to correct the problem added the audio and it turned out fine.
