  1. Hi There,

I've been browsing through this forum for the last few days (it's excellent !!) and have managed to make my first VCD, which plays on my PC ... by clicking on the mpg-DAT file.

I had to split the file and then burn on to two CD-r's ..... easy after reading through the various intsructions that are in here, but .... it won't play on my standalone DVD player .......

My standalone player (Daewoo) does play VCD's .... I've just been watching the Hendrix Rainbow Bridge VCD on it .....

I'm using Nero for burning ...... it's never burnt a coaster (including DVD-r's) and is very reliable .....

What am I doing wrong ?????

    any idea's ?????
    Cheers

Does the VCD play on the PC using WinDVD/Power DVD? The single fact that the .DAT file is playable doesn't mean that it's an OK VCD!
What settings did you use in Nero? You must author it as a VCD and use DAO, to mention a few things.
Personally, I've never succeded in making a VCD with Nero (even if there are many that obviously have) that work on my stand alone. VCDEasy, on the other hand, has never failed me!

  3. Does your standalone player play CDR's ok. Was the Hendrix VCD a burned one or an original.

  4. I'm pretty sure that your DVD player handles only silver cdr or cdrw, cause i had same problem i tried burning many different things on green and blue ones, then i remeber that i have silver cdrw and tried that and it worked.

Not all DVD's can play CDR but they can Play CDRW.

You should go to DVD Lists and look up your dvd and see what ppl saying about it, it helped me.

  5. Hi There,

Thanks for all the idea's !!!

    1) The Hendrix VCD is a pro-release - 2 x VCD's.

    2) My player's not listed - it's a Daewoo ds2000d

    3) I'm just about to try with EasyVCD

I'll let you know what happens ......

  6. Hi There,

    Well ........... I'm sorted !!

VCDEasy works well, but it was no good with 80 min CD-r's ....... but, CD-RW's do work and are recognised straight away by the Daewoo DVD player.

Many Thanks for all the advice !!
    Cheers
