  1. how do i convert my uncompliant mpg to a VCD compliant one? i use nero to create VCDs but upon dragging this new mpg that i downloaded, nero prompted me and told me that the mpg is not VCD compliant.

    info on the mpg:

    frame rate: 29.970
    audio format: mono
    video width: 320 pixels
    video height: 240 pixels

is there a way to re-encode the mpg to make it a VCD 2.0 compliant mpg? pls help. thanks.

Your video resolution is an obvious culprit. Should be 352x240

Don't know if your mono audio is an issue I encode stereo.

Normally you could ignore Nero and burn anyway but your video will probably not display properly at that resolution.

I did it by accident only once and my picture was shifted to the right.
There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway.

  4. To make a compliant VCD mpeg you will need to re-encode.

You could try to make an XVCD with this mpeg but it will obviously not be compliant.

  5. Nero is good for burning, but not for encoding, when you reencode use
    TMPGEnc

  7. Use TMPGEnc and use a standard VCD template. If you use the wizard it guides you through step by step. Very simple.

do i still have to create a diferrent audio source file (wav) using virtualdub? or will voice sync be OK already upon re-encoding?

  9. No you only have to do this if you have variable bit rate compressed audio. eg mp3.

So use you existing mpeg as the source for the video and audio.
