    whenever i hit the "OPEN" button on ffmpex i get this strange applescript error message.

    NSReceiverEvaluationScriptError: 3 (1)

    can anybody hellp me ? i want to convert a VOB file to vcd mpeg1

    I had the same problem, and major's answer helped:

    This error means you need to update your system with the following installer --
    http://www.versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=15315&db=mac
