Newbie Question: Regarding TV-Tuner Cards

Hi,

I was wondering about TV-Tuner cards. If I get one and hook it up to my television, can I watch the .avi or. divx movie files I downloaded without any conversions? Is this worthwile to do or not?

TV-Tuner cards generally describe cards that allow you to watch tv or video signals on your PC.

TV-Out cards or features are what allow you to watch you PC output on a TV.

To watch video from pc to tv you'll need a video card with TV-out capabilities

Also, how do I check my existing video card to see if I already have the TV-out capabilities?

A lot of new accelerato graphic cards have TV out which you can connect (yellow composite cable) PC to TV as second monitor. But if you want TV-tuner with TV out then I'd recommend All in wonder 7500. You will have TV-tuner, capture card, TV-out plus graphic card all in one.
